WHAT IS IT?

The EQUALIZER is a compact lightweight snare; made from durable PVC. What Makes It So Different? It can be operated with one hand and it is trigger activated. This allows you the freedom to use a tickle stick, light, or just further your reach. It is powered by a band, similar to that on a speargun. Plus – the snare loop and all component parts are replaceable in the field within minutes.

What this means – when the snare loop becomes disfigured catching the big ones, you don’t throw the unit away, but simply replace just the snare loop and keep diving. The unit employs a NO JAM latching device which locks the loop around the lobster until you release it.

AQUATIC SPECIALTIES, manufacturer of the EQUALIZER LOBSTER SNARE, has produced over a thousand units for use in Florida and Bahamian waters (letters of compliance from the governing agencies can be obtained upon request). Orders from all over the world have been received, from such distant dive sites as Bermuda, Australia, New Zealand, South America, Mexico, and most all the Caribbean Islands.

About us

A FAMILY BUSINESS

Aquatic Specialties has been a family owned business for over 20 years! The “Equalizer” was created by Terry Steponaitis, and the business is now operated by his son Kevin Steponaitis. They have perfected this product, giving you the ONLY one-handed, band powered, trigger operated lobster snare available on the market!

“The equalizer snare is fantastic and has paid for itself many times over. It allows for one handed operaion which is great in a heavy current. As for lobsters in a hole i put the tip in and open the loop once inside. As for the bag hey it’s a mesh bag …. minimum drag … and fits anything you catch… 99% off the divers i see on boats use it… works for me … as with everything practice makes you better…”

I have an equalizer and love it. I snap them with the equalizer and grab them with my other hand once they are in reach. Works like a charm
